In the Community

Asset Science™ has taken upon itself to “get involved”.  As a corporation, we understand that giving back to the community and to our young engineers will benefit us all.  Several of our founders, management and employees have been involved with FIRST© through sponsorship, leadership and the founding of some of the competitions that give our youngsters the “taste” of innovation and engineering.

FIRST©, http://usfirst.org, is a world class organization who's mission is "to inspire young people to be science and technology leaders, by engaging them in exciting mentor-based programs that build science, engineering and technology skills, that inspire innovation, and that foster well-rounded life capabilities including self-confidence, communication, and leadership."

FIRST© runs 3 core robotic competitions every year

- FIRST LEGO League (FLL)

- FIRST Technical Challenge (FTC)

- FIRST Robotic Competition (FRC)

FIRST reaches out to 100, 000s of kids and 10, 000s of mentors throughout the world.  Eric Arseneau; Asset Science™ CTO, was instrumental in getting Java as a programming language for the FRC competition.  This new programming option was introduced at the 2009 FIRST World Championship in Atlanta, http://www.usfirst.org/aboutus/content.aspx?id=15199.  Eric continues his efforts with FIRST by mentoring teams and participating in Workshops (FIRST Robotics Fall Workshops)

IAROC

Eric Arseneau is a founder of the "International Autonomous Robot Competition" (http://www.iaroc.org).  Eric and his fellow board members  at Wintriss Technical Schools desired to have a robotic competition that put a bigger premium on software engineering, while still allowing hardware modifications if desired.  The competition has been running now for 4 years, we've had over 500 kids, from junior high school to high school level participate.  Eric continues to support this program through his management level with Asset Science by providing mentors and planning support for upcoming competitions.

In the future Asset Science™ expects to becomes a major supporter of the organization and to sponsor several teams from the California area.
